The RD1 had quite a few features for the price including the ability to recieve both DAB and FM wavebands, pause and rewind live radio and set timed recordings. You can also listen to one station and record another via an external recording device.

It's also got the standard clock and alarm but also they've included a sleep and snooze function. There's a headphone socket and other output sockets.

You can either use 4 D size batteries or via the mains.

It's 190mm wide, 260mm high and 130mm deep and weighs 1.74Kg

Cheap Pure Evoke DAB Radios

We've listed a range of shops that sell the Pure Evoke DAB Radio. But one thing you're probably not aware of is that there are basically three models of the Evoke DAB Radios.

Which Pure Evoke to Choose?
Not all Evokes are the same. The 1-XT is the basic and affordable option which obviously has fewer featuers. It doesn't have an FM Alternative and can't run on batteries and also isn't in Stereo, you can't upgrade it with a USB cable. Also the Evoke 3 comes with an SD Memory card slot and the ability to pause and rewind live radio just like you can with Sky Plus.

It's all down to budgets, but if £190 to spare and will use it often we'd recommend the Evoke 3. But if you'll only use it occasionaly, and didn't want to spend much, then go for the Evoke 1-XT.

DAB Radio Buyers Guide

Just like other electrical goods and personnal audio devices there is so much choice. You can go down to Asda and buy an own brand digital radio such as their "Dual" range, you can get buy one from a popular brand such as Pure DAB Radio and their Evoke or Elan ranges, or you can really flex your wallet or purse and spend £299 on a TEAC CRH-255 DAB Radio Micro system.

How to choose a new DAB Digital Radio

1) Price - So the first point is to work out how much you want to spend (we've used Amazon as a possible shop, but look to the right for alternatives).

• For the lower priced items, say under £40 you're better off going down to Asda or Tesco and getting a home brand one. It won't really offer you much functionality or have the greatest look, but at least you'll have a DAB digtal radio. If you do have to buy online now then perhaps go for the Digihome DRF200 from Amazon's Market Place or eBay.
• £41 - £75 - You're now looking at the Pure Elan Portable Stereo with DAB and FM Digital Radio for about £65 at Amazon.
• £76 - £125
  

2) Use - What do you intend to use it for?

• Portbable DAB Radio - These are just like MP3 Players and fit nicely into your pocket. You could try the Pure PocketDAB 1000 Personal Radio (Empire Direct - £94.59). We've also recommended some other personal DAB Radios.
• Car DAB Radio - You have two options; To replace your current one, then something like the >Pioneer DEH-P5730MP CD Tuner (Edworthys - £127.99) Or get a converter such as a >in-car DAB converter from LX Direct (£99.99)
• In-home - The Pure Elan DX20 DAB Radio is a good choice.

3) Funk Factor - Some Digital Radios look better than others. Think about where its going to go in your home or office. You can even think of colour schemes! Here's some we like:
